It is pronounced and written Pseudopod- lit. False foot. the word refers to the temporary appendages assumed by, for example, an amoeba which has not permanent body structure as we know it. it can also refer to a secure cuff or sort of Accordion- hinged glove used for handling hazardous materials and this usage was implied in the film The Andromeda Strain. I am not aware of any other meanings it's a biological and by extension, a science-fiction term.
