To learn all about Augustus go to the ancient writers. Seutonius, in his Twelve Caesars gives the ancient bio of Augustus. Dio and Appain also cover him. Ronald Syme's The Roman Revolution is excellent as is also Augustus: the Golden Age of Rome by G.P. Baker. Check you local library, as they more than likely will have bios of him with different author's viewpoints. Be careful of what you get from the web as many web sights are opinion pieces and reflect the writer's point of view which can be misleading, as they are not always truthful due to faulty research. By the way, Augustus did not really expand the empire except for Egypt. He concentrated on consolidating more than expanding and after Teutoburg, actually pulled back the border to the Rhine.
