Looking on its left hip is a good place to start, or ear tag. Some tattoo the inside of the bottom lip, but this has never really caught on. The county seat might have a listing of ownership of a given brand each state is different, in so much, some you only have to buy once in the state others every county.

XIT, 6666, flying M . rocking chair. -BQ. these are only a few and way to much fun to continue. A brand is a mark that says this is mine leave it alone. For the purpose of claiming whats yours. up till not to long ago you could still get hung for stealing horses and cows in the state of Texas.
