Actors during the Globe Theatre era were not always looked upon favorably. They were often viewed as beggars and vagabonds. Women were not allowed to perform so young men played women's roles. The Globe theatre was constructed in 1599 and was a unique, elaborate theatre.

What the globe theatre looked like?

The outside of the original Globe Theatre looked very much like Sam Wanamaker's modern Globe theatre in Southwark. We don't know what the original Globe looked like inside. (The inside of the modern Globe is copied from some drawings we have of the inside of the Star - a slightly less famous Jacobean theatre).

Why isn't the Globe Theatre still standing?

The first Globe Theatre was destroyed by a fire in 1613, and then rebuilt in 1614. When the Purtain's succeeded in closing down theatre it was demolished in 1644. The new Globe theatre was opened in 1997, where it remains standing today. It does not stand in the same place as the original Globe theatre though.

Where did they moves the globe theatre?

They didn't move the Globe Theatre. What you are thinking of, probably, is when Richard and Cuthbert Burbage found themselves to be the owner of a theatre called The Theatre which they couldn't use because the landlord wouldn't allow anyone on the land. When their landlord was away, they got their carpenter, Peter Street, to take the Theatre down. They saved some of the lumber from the old theatre and used it to build a new theatre in a new part of town. This new theatre was called the Globe Theatre and it opened in 1599. It didn't move anywhere.

What theater is considered William Shakespeare theater?

There may be theatres in the world called The William Shakespeare Theatre, but if so none of them are famous. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-on-Avon, built in 1932 but renovated in 2010, and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, built in 1997 in Southwark near the site of the original Globe, are both famous modern theatres named after Shakespeare. The Theatre most associate with Shakespeare is the Globe Theatre, which was built in 1599 after Shakespeare had been a playwright for about ten years and had already written some of his most famous and best-loved works including Romeo and Juliet, the eight Wars of the Roses plays, The Taming of the Shrew, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. His acting company had previously used the Theatre and later the Curtain for their home base, but they moved to the Globe after it was built. The First Globe saw the premieres of the great tragedies Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello and Lear, the Roman plays, the darker comedies and the Romances like the Tempest. Shakespeare was an actor through all of this time, retiring from the stage at about the same time as the First Globe was destroyed by fire in 1613. Although Shakespeare owned a share in the Globe, he was not a major shareholder nor was he the most important person in his acting company. None of his contemporaries would have regarded the Globe as William Shakespeare's theatre; it was clearly Richard Burbage's.

What shape was the first globe theatre?

The Globe theatre was actually octagonal there isn't a real reason why some think so that all the audience can see the stage and others think it was so lots of people could see the play.
