What is ect on automatic car?

"Engine coolant temperature" sensor

How would tranny oil get into your radiator?

Many automatic transmissions use a cooler inside the vehicles radiator to help maintain the transmissions temperature. The transmission pumps ATF thru the cooler. If a leak occurs in the trans cooler the ATF is pumped into the radiators coolant. The engine coolant can also mix with the trans ATF and enter the transmission the same way in which case would be fatal for the transmission.

What does ect mean on a car?

Toyota has developed a new automatic transmission, called the A341E. This transmission employs a unique engine and transmission integrated intelligent control system named "ECT-i", and a high performance "Super Flow" Torque Converter. It can also be the abbreviation for the engine coolant temperature sensor.

How is there transmission fluid in your radiator?

The automatic transmission oil cooler is built into the radiator. If the oil cooler developes a leak the oil mixes with the engine coolant.

2007 cobalt 2.2 engine oil in coolant tank what could be the problem?

If it is an automatic transmission, the cooler in the radiator is most likely leaking into the coolant system.

Where is the coolant temperature sensor on a 2001 Hyundai sonata?

AnswerThe coolant temperature sensor is located in the coolant housing on the transmission end of the engine under the ignition coil.In my experience, most of the problems with this coolant temperature sensor are intermittent, so attempts to troubleshoot usually prove fruitless. If you'd like, you can view the schematics for the vehicle in the ETM section at www.hmaservice.com. You'll need to register for a free account, and the site requires Internet Explorer.

Why do you have oil in your raidiator on 1992 Saturn?

you have a blown headgasket, or if it is has an automatic transmission, it is also possible that you may have transmission fluid in your radiator. this is caused by transmission fluid in part of your radiator leaked into your coolant

What happens when coolant leaks into transmission?

When coolant and or water gets introduced to an automatic transmission. It can and will cause failure. The material "clutches and bands" use as friction are attached by a water soluble glue. The glue dissolves and the transmission will no longer go into gear. It may happen fast are slowly over time.

What is the funsion of coolant sensor of a Toyota 4 Runner 1992?

The coolant temperature sensor, which is located behind the engine block near the firewall, senses when the coolant temperature reaches a predetermined temperature so that the transmission can shift into overdrive. This sensor and the hose preceding it can get gunked up with cystallization from the coolant (red Toyota coolant is notorious for doing this) and can prevent proper flow to the sensor i.e. your transmission may take longer to shift into overdrive or may not shift at all depending on how constricted the hose is.

What would cause oil in the radiator coolant?

blown head gasket....not good. Could b Transmission fluid because the transmission cooler is in the radiator-especially IF the water has a red tint 2 it,IF it has a automatic transmission.
