They are totally different! A plant cell is something that is a constituent part of most plants, whereas a solar cell is something used to convert solar energy into electricity. I.e the first is a living thing whereas the latter is not.

Difference between plan and animal cells?

The fundamental difference between plant cells and animal cells is that plant cells have much larger vacuoles, possess chloroplasts, and have a cell wall as opposed to a cell membrane. Animal cells do not need these things for the simple fact that they can't convert solar energy into chemical energy and don't need that much water to survive.

What converts solar energy into chemical energy through phototsynthesis?

chloroplasts in the plant's cells

CellWhat plant organelle serves a function similar to solar panels on a house?

A chloroplast is most like a solar cell. It absorbs light which begins photosynthesis in plants. Photosynthesis provides a plant with the energy, a.k.a. ATP, to go about the activities it must to do live.

How is the plant cell similar to the solar cell?

Plant cells and solar cells BOTH convert sunlight into energy. In the case of plants it is chemical energy - for solar cells it is electricity. Plants use organic processes but solar cells use inorganic semiconductors.

Why does a plant cell have chloroplast and animal cells do not?

Chloroplasts are used to convert solar radiation into energy for the plant... This means they can make their own food. Animals do not do this.
