All laptops by default have only a 3.5mm stereo jack output for audio and mostly 2 speaker or 2.1 (1 woofer) small speakers are sufficient. What you buy will also depend on if you need, if you need your speakers to be portable and you need to carry those around then you need compact speakers if you are not happy with the built in speakers. For home use you can go for bigger and better ones also.

Choose smaller speakers. Another important thing is choosing speakers with external power supply or powered by USB. The better the quality the more expensive they will beb. If you want quality speakers I woulc reccomend Bose speakers.
i think sony had some wifi speakers for a cheap price and it has really good quality. It has a really nice long range distance to. I would highly suggest looking further into these speakers
