- The Sins of Thy Beloved (Norway) - Started off essentially as a Theatre of Tragedy knockoff. Growling male vocals, clean female vocals
- Tristania (Norway) - Mostly growling male vocals and clean female vocals. Some clean male vocals used in some songs. Also uses a choir composed of both male and female vocalists
- Sirenia (Norway) - Started by the founder of Tristania. Same description.
- After Forever (Netherlands) - Mostly growling male vocals mixed with clean female vocals.
- Epica (Netherlands) - Same formula as After Forever, founded by the person who founded After Forever
- Within Temptation (Netherlands) - Their debut album, Enter, featured growling male vocals and clean female vocals, in a simlar vein to earlier Theatre of Tragedy and The Sins of Thy Beloved. Later albums went almost exclusively to female vocals.
- Disrupt (United States of America) - Maybe a bit questionable of an entry for a question about Metal bands. Disrupt is a Crust Punk band (sharing a common heritage and many similarities to Grindcore). Vocals are primarily shouting male vocals, but several songs feature a female singer who practically screams her lungs out, as well.
