We must know English, ( to read ) maths, ( About money and etc...) , science (About our body etc) some languages ( To speak to others) Technology ( To make new items so we can use) and a little bit of geography.
I find this to be a quite subjective question.
IMHO important subjects are subjects that are important to you.
Personally I find the economy, the environment, world politics especially conflicts, upcoming conflicts and whether or not the US is justified in becoming involved. I hope the US learned its lesson with Iraq. Health care, health care coverage both for physical an mental disorders, equality for women and men, children too.
