Samoa has a market economy
There are many customs (in EVERY culture) that have positive & negative effects to them. It is apparent nowadays that continuing the Samoan culture and its traditions is posing difficulties with all the western influence our people face.
Samoa is actually a poor country. It has 7th smallest economy, the 72nd smallest income per country, and its GDP growth rate is not enough to consider it a developing nation. At only 2%, it is actually one of the slowest progressing economies in the world; it has the 44th slowest growing economy. To notice the real gap, you must know that there are 196 countries in the world, so Samoa is definitely on the poor half.
Samoa has its own economy therfore is self-sufficient in most cases. However in light on tragedies (such as the recent tsunami) IMHO, I'd say, "Yes" Samoa relies (a little, if not mostly) on the generous donations from developed countries like Australia, NZ and the US.
when did epidemic influenza start in samoa how did it happen in samoa? why did it affected the people of samoa? the reference in samoa?
American Samoa and Western Samoa (now known as Samoa).
it is called western Samoa because Samoa is divided into two parts, American Samoa and western Samoa. After colonialism came to Samoa, America took control of Eastern Samoa which adapted the name "American Samoa". While Germany (and later NZ) took control of Western Samoa, who then took on the name "Western Samoa". No called SAMOA. The nation dropped the "western" in 1997.
They are the same in that Samoans in American Samoa and Samoa (once Western Samoa) have the same heritage. However, American Samoa is a US territory while Samoa is an independent nation. So they are in effect two different countries.
