It will depend on where they live and how traditional their family is. The country's religion is Islam and that influences how they dress, particularly for women. Men can almost always be seen wearing what would be considered "western" clothing like jeans or trousers and a t-shirt or oxford. Older men may wear a "joma" which is a long padded coat that looks a bit like a robe. This will be tied with a colorful sash and is especially good during the long cold winters in the mountainous country. Men may also wear a brimless hat called a "toki" which is square instead of round and worn on the back of the head. If they are from a particular tribe or if they have been on a hajj to Mecca the shape and color might vary. Today, women might wear western clothing like skirts and blouses or trousers. More commonly outside of the capital women wear long dresses called "kurtas" sewn out of very colorful fabrics purchased from the bazaar or market. The making of these dresses is an art form with different embellishments and finer silks or simple cotton fabrics and neckline designs unique to the seamstress who creates them, often from a few measurements and a simple pattern. If the women live out in the villages away for the city or are very traditional the sleeves of the dress will go to the wrist but mostly they fall just below the elbow.Under the dress they wear a loose fitting pant called "azor" the bottoms of which peek out from beneath the kurta and have a decorative trim like lace on the leg opening. They will wear a colorful scarf on their head called a "rahmoul" to cover their hair, though it does not cover all the hair like a hijab or the face like a burqa.
