The Native Americans contributed the code talkers to the war because the Japanese could not translate Navajo. However it was not just the code talkers. 25,000 Native Americans volunteered to fight in the war.
The American American troops including the Tuskegee Airmen flew 15,000 sorties protecting aircraft. 1,700 African American troops were on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Others delivered supplies for the “Red Ball Express.
Japanese-Americans volunteered for service in World War II. The 100th Infantry Battalion served in North Africa. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was an all Nisei group that fought in Europe. The 522 all Nisei helped liberate Dachau. Some Japanese Americans served as translators.
