Obama's father left home when he was two while his mother was still a college student. She remarried when he 4 or 5 and took him to Indonesia which may have been hard. When he was in 10, she sent him back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents which must have been something of a shock, but I think he eventually liked living in Hawaii. His mother died from cancer at a young age. Other than that, life was pretty much a steady stream of successes, judging from the outside. Of course everyone faces doubts and fears as they go through life, especially if they take risks and try to do difficult tasks.
