What are some similarities and difference between Irish and Russian cultures?

Not too much culturally, other than drinking stereotypes that aren't exactly true. Most of their similarities are attributed to their appearances. While Russians as a whole are extremely diverse, ethnic Russians, like ethnic Irishmen, possess fair skin with rounded faces and a majority have blue/green eyes while others have brown eyes. Russians and Irishmen are both also classified of being of the "Alpine Race" which includes fair skin, rounded faces, wide noses and a brown hair majority. Many people will swear that the Irish all have red or blond hair but from what I've studied and what I have observed from my Irish relatives, most Irish people have dark brown hair. One source (sorry I can't remember it) said that dark brown is the most common hair color in Ireland and amongst the Irish community with blond, red and black hair being the minority. This is also seen with Russians. Everyone claims that since Russians are a northern country they all have blond hair, fair skin and blue eyes. The blue eyes part is true since Russians, like the Irish mostly have blue or green eyes with others having brown or hazel eyes. Russians also have fair skin (neither pale or dark), but blond hair is actually uncommon in Russia and is only seen in the northwestern parts of the Russia or in areas that were inhabited by the Finns (who had Nordic features). To some it up, Russians and Irish both share brown hair, fair skin, and blue/green eyes while brown eyes, dark skin, and blond, red, or black hair are less common. Hope this helps!
