moderate's are those such as david Cameron who aren't as extreme and radical as Margaret thatcher, who defined the conservatives as a very radical right wing party. moderates tend to have more centre right views (if you're familiar with the political spectrum), some views may be similar to labour or lib dems, whilst hard cores will tend to strive for power themselves as thatcher did, and prove to be radical, extremist and very nationalist politicians.
