Puerto Rico is a melting pot. Puerto Rican women are too diverse to categorize into 'traits'. Puerto Rican is not a race but a mixture of different cultures and races in a small island. After the discovery of Puerto Rico, the Queen of Spain allowed people from all over Europe to populate the island Africans were brought to the island as slaves and intermingled with the rest of the population since slavery on the island did not last very long. Today, 80% of Puerto Rico's population is white, 13% mixed and 6% black. Unlike most Latin American countries Puerto Ricans have no indigenous or Asian ancestry (with the exception of recent immigrants) so they are basically white, black, or mixed. One mentionable detail is that Puerto Rico has the most Miss Universe pageant winners with 5-- the only country with more wins than the U.S.
