In American political discourse, states' rights refers to political powers reserved for the U.S. state governments rather than the federal government according to the United States Constitution.

The Constitution of the US grants specific rights to the US government- the right to coin money, make treaties with other countries, etc. Rights that are not specifically given to the Federal government are rights that are retained by the states.

However these rights are constantly being eroded by the Federal Government Under such doctrines as the "Commerce Clause" and the Supreme Court who determine federal law which supersede state law.

Well It depends on the state, really. every state has there own rules, and rights. I live in Las Vegas Nevada and our state rights may be very different to Maine's state rights. Why don't you try to type in the name of the state, and then what rights it might have.

Each state has their own rights and laws. I live in Pennsylvania; that means I have the right to bear arms. But, if you live in the state next to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, than you do not have the right to bear arms. Because it is against the law to bear arms in New Jersey. Even though, the right to bear arms is clearyly stated in the U.S. Constitution; it is against the law in New Jersey. And, New Jersey has the right to outlaw that, because that is their right outlined in the Constitution. It sounds like a contradiction and sometimes it is, but you just have to be aware of your laws.
