There are many strange ways to worship, although it should be remembered that the concept of strangeness is subjective; nobody thinks that their own method of worship is strange, only other people's methods are strange. And since I personally do not engage in any kind of worship, they are all strange to me. But some are stranger than others. There are American churches in which people worship by means of snake handling or speaking in tongues (they actually handle poisonous snakes, and they speak what appears to be meaningless gibberish - but to them it is divinely inspired). In Islam there is a sect known as the whirling dervishes, who have a dance of prayer that involves a lot of spinning around. There is a form of Tibetan Buddhism (also known as Vajrayana Buddhism, the Diamond Path) in which prayer can be mechanized by means of prayer wheels; the wheels pray for you. There are some Christian cults that engage in a kind of ritualized laughter as part of worship, and the services can become quite raucous. Other groups engage in formal bowing (as in bowing before a monarch).
