One area in The Bible where "300 men" are specifically mentioned is in the account of Gideon and his victory over Midian. (Judges 7:1-8) Gideon is remembered for being used by God to deliver the Israelites from oppression under the Midianites with his little group of 300 specially chosen warriors, armed only with a Trumpet, a pitcher with a light, and a loud shout: "For the LORD and for Gideon"(NIV) He was counted among the faithful men in the Bible because of his obedience to and faith in, God's power, as he obediently sent home the majority of his army, then proceeded to conquer a large and powerful enemy with only 300 remaining men(Hebrews 11:32), standing obediently 'each one in his place'(Judges 7:21). Their lack of numbers and weapons, and their complete obedience to God's commands proved that the victory was won by God, not by human abilities. The lesson taught for our benefit is that, if we are obedient to God, and trust him to help us, he will win victories for us over any enemy.(Philippians 4:13)(1 Samuel 14:6) (Psalm 59:9+17)(Isaiah 12:2)(Isaiah 40:29)(John 15:5)(2 Corinthians 4:7)(2 Corinthians 12:9).
