The main components are:
The Central Processing Unit (CPU), which does the actual computing (calculating). Information is processed there.
The Internal (RAM) Memory, in which programs that are running and documents that are being used are stored.
The Hard Drive, where programs and documents are stored permanently, for a longer time.
The Motherboard, who create internally links between all physical components of the computer. It regulates the flow of information inside the computer.
Optionally, a Floppy, CD or DVD drive.
An assortment of cards (all optional):
The graphics card, which creates the image you see on screen.
The sound card, which creates the sound you hear.
The network card, with which you connect to the internet.
There are also the devices outside of the computer:
Keyboard
Mouse
Monitor
Speakers
Printer

So floppies, DVDs, CDs, and other storage media are hardware. Hardware are all the physical, tangible parts of a computer. Software is an invisible representation of ideas and code. So a CD is hardware, but a CD program is software.
A computer weight is measured in pounds. The average weight of a computer is about 10 to 20 pounds.

You can't speed up hardware. Also, deleting files will barely speed up your computer.(20 GB of deleting will only affect your computer by milliseconds)
A boot sector virus can corrupt hardware by infecting the master boot record, making it difficult for the computer to boot properly. This type of virus can cause damage to the hard drive and other hardware components if not addressed promptly.

Just follow the directions that come with the hardware. Every piece of hardware I have added in the last 20 years had instructions on how to install the hardware. Be sure to read them COMPLETELy before starting to install anything. This ASSUMES the person has the documentation. If you want a more specific answer, then the question needs to be more specific as to which hardware that one is installing.
Retro Hardware - 2011 was released on: USA: 20 June 2011
The question here is very vague. An outdated computer could be a computer that you could buy today... However I assume this question is targeted towards a computer that is a few years old in which case the value of the computer is based off of the hardware. Generally if you paid a few thousand dollars for the unit 5 years ago it may have some worth but not to much as you can buy a new computer for 200-300 dollars. But once again without the hardware makeup it is hard to say its actual worth. As technology continues to advance at such a rapid rate. Most computers are generally outdated in a matter of 3 years. After 3 years, your computer is worth zero to most resellers or buyers. Your best option is to take it to electronics recycling place and recoup $5-$20 depending on how much you are recycling. Or try to sell any individual components or upgrades that may still hold some value.
The cost for a Netscreen Remote ranges from $20 to $1150, depending on the model, function, and compatibility with certain computer programs, and user license.

the function is to separate liquids from solids in about 20-40 seconds
The main components are: Motherboard - the 'brains' of the computer - holding the CPU, memory and various sockets and chips. RAM - the temporary 'memory' - which is wiped when the power is turned off Hard-drive - a mass-storage device containing all the computer programs the user wants to use. It's contents are not wiped when power is turned off. Optical drive - an input/output device that can be used to read data from the computer to be used on another machine - or be used to load programs onto the computer. Video card - to provide an image for the operator to see what the computer is doing. Power supply - which steps down the mains to a more usable voltage for the computer to use. There are other minor components - but those are the main ones.
