(1) We want to explain or inform about something.
(2) We want to convince or persuade someone of something.
(3) We want to describe what a thing looked like, or sounded like, or felt like.
(4) We want to tell what happened.
Some of the branches include Critical Discourse Analysis, Social, Religious, Scientific, Feminism, Corpus, Racism and Media Discourse Analysis.
