It's a BDL. I know this because I own one and the replacement stocks are for BDL's...
Yes. 700 BDL European
Yes.
BDL is not an acronym for a specific word. Instead, it is a grade level that classifies the quality of the sites in a gun. BDL falls between ADL and CDL and can be determined to be either a good site or an unacceptable site depending on what the purchaser is looking for in a gun.
A Remington 742 BDL has a different stock and forearm than the 742 ADL. The stock of the 742 BDL has a cheek plate and the forearm is slanted at the front with a different type bolt which secures it. The 742 ADL is the most common type and easier to find if one is trying to purchase a 742.
CD in CDL stands for classic deluxe.
The designation, BDL represents "B" grade wood and the DL is for deluxe model.
From the Remington "Support Help Center" files, with "BDL acronym" put in search field, you can see: "The ADL-BDL designations were originally acronyms for A Grade Deluxe and B Grade Deluxe. The deluxe term was once tacked on to the end of the model designation" They don't use this sort of model designation any more, though you can see by pricing that a stainless steel barrel costs more (more deluxe) than the B Grade version. Similarly, the synthetic stock is way less deluxe than the wood one. So "BDL" means B-grade De-Luxe, or not quite top dollar, but fine enough for next-to-best.
The BDL has a hinged floorplate assembly allowing ammo removal from the bottom of the rifle. The ADL has a trigger guard, only it does not have a hinged floorplate in the rifle's stock. In addition, the magazine well on the ADL is a blind bottom.

Actually, The 742A is the "Woodsmaster" and the 742 BDL is the "Deluxe". The differences in the two rifles are the stocks and forearms. The 742A has a rolled, impressed type of checkering and the 742 BDL has a basket weave style with the stock having a higher comb (where your cheek would rest when shooting). The receiver on the BDL has a slightly higher area where the scope is mounted.
The BDL model of Remington rifles stands for B deluxe. It is an upgraded model which features a hinged floor plate for ammo removal.
