By sections, I'm guessing you mean branches or denominations, and there are several. Of course, it started out as just one: Christian. There was a split around 1000 CE that formed the Roman Catholic (which means universal) and the Eastern Orthodox (which means right teaching) churches. Then beginning around 1500 there was what is known as the Protestant Reformation in Europe (people "protested" and wanted "reform" in the church--hence the name). This huge schism opened the door for lots of different branches and denominations, including Lutheran, Presbyterian/Reformed, Anglican/Episcopalian, Anabaptist/Baptist, and eventually Methodist, Restorationists (such as Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Church of Christ, etc.) and finally Pentecostal/Charismatic traditions. (Whew! And I'll bet I forgot a few...) And within each of these branches there are lots of different types of churches, but these are some main divisions. Each tradition seeks to follow Jesus' teachings as revealed in the Old and New Testaments as they understand them.
They are called denominations, including baptist, Methodist, united assemblies of god Ect...
