the horses of a john deere 950 is 27
I have a model 950 tractor that also uses the same heat sensor switch - ch15516. As far as I know, you cannot use anything but this john deere part. It is about $35 a your nearest Deere dealer.
The John Deere 950 was made from 1978-1989, a total of 11 years. For more info no the 950 visit http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/000/1/0/100-john-deere-950.html

Here is a website that provides a lot of information from year to specifications: http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/000/1/0/100-john-deere-950.html
I would highly suggest that you buy the John Deere 950 because it is one of the best they have in their line of tractors. My friend has one and she loves it. She hasn't regret buying it and has owned it for 3 years now.

The price varies based on the seller and the condition of the tractor (i.e. whether it is new or used). It's generally a good idea to ask at a local farm equipment store or outlet to see if they have any available at low cost, or if they can make recommendations, but you may also wish to look into online sellers. One good website you may wish to try is listed below: http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/list.aspx?pg=1&ETID=1&Mdltxt=350&Manu=JOHN+DEERE&mdlx=exact&bcatid=464&Pref=0&Thumbs=1&scf=false

On mine, it's right next to the shifter. Yellow cap. I think it says "oli" which is a little confusing.
