Mac OS X server is cheaper than a Windows server - for a 10-client license Mac OS X costs $499 whereas Windows costs $1,199. Mac OS X server is built on a UNIX system so meets industry standards and has years of use behind it thus rendering it a secure and simple to maintain.

Pros:

Chance of getting virsuses is very low

it is a fairly easy to use

cheaper long term compared to windows due to no need for antivirus

Cons:

Hackers can basically make your mac never work (probably won't happen but they can)

It isn't as widely used as windows so some programs may not work

Can only work on Apple computers unless hacked

Any problems with the computer has to be taken back to apple store and it will be expensive to fix

Pain to convert to windows format (you will probably need to do this a lot for school or college or etc.)

Windows

Pros:

easy to use

access to more programs than any other OS

you can fix almost any problem by yourself with internet

cheap short term (antivirus and MSoffice cost a lot)

widely used so easy accessiblity

can get a really nice desktop computer a lot cheaper than a medium-end mac computer

Cons:

viruses

cost of antivirus, MS office, etc.

I recommend you stick with windows because it is so easy to use and its not like there is a 100% gaurentee that you will not get virsuses on macs because it is possible to do Hackers don't do it often because not many people use it. There are many people who run mac os on windows computer that actually ends up cheaper for you and it is fairly easy to do so.

I dont specifically know the advantages and disadvantages of max os 8 but i will list off the advantages and disadvantages of mac os itself.

Macs are rubbish!

They just are, I personally despise mac for how it works. I have used Mac and Windows so this is not bias.

When you close something it doesnt close it just minimises and then you have to click close again on the task bar. I could list enough reasons so that i would be typing away for fifteen years. Just joking... But seriously.

If your even thinking about getting a mac, dont.

If you actually get a mac, God help us all!

What are the different type Mac os?

Well, there's classic Mac OS (Mac OS 1 -> Mac OS 9), and then there's Mac OS X (Mac OS 10.0 -> Mac OS 10.6 (to be released in 2 days)).If you're wondering what kind of editions there are, like how Windows has Basic, Premium, Ultimate, etc, there are two: Client and Server. Client is what is usually used, but Server is if you need to do special internet related activities, such as hosting a website.Client is $129 (Leopard)Server is $1000, I believe (Leopard)Again, Client is the primary version (it is often just referred to as Mac OS X, not Mac OS X Client), and Server is strictly for computers that need server-like capabilities, so it is often regarded. Many people will say that there is only one version of Mac OS X, referring to Mac OS X Client.

What is Mac OS X and types of Mac OS X operating system?

Mac OS X is an operating system released by Apple Inc. It is designed for Apple branded computers, which is why you will never see a Dell, or an HP computer run Mac OS X. There are only two important versions of Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, and regular Mac OS X. Mac OS X server was designed for servers, while regular Mac OS X was designed for most computers. The current version of Mac OS X (10.6) is named Snow Leopard.

Mac OS X can only be installed on Apple hardware so Vmware is unable to support Mac OS X on anything other than a Mac by running, for example, a virtual installation of Mac OS X Server on a standard Mac OS X machine.
