All Indian curry's and Biryani require some oil to cook. It gives flavour and taste to the curry and dish. Its better to use olive oil and palm oil or refined oil for its healthy and provide good cholesterol

I couldn't imagine it would be very beneficial to the plant. Cooking oil is thick and full of lipids (saturated and unsatured fats - mostly unsaturated, saturated fats are solid at room temperature). Plants need more nutrients and water rather than oily fats. If you were to use any type of oil i would say use fish oil because it's rich in vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids.
