Are you talking about fasting for health? When done properly, fasting has numerous health benefits.

However, if you're not eating because you're trying to lose weight, your metabolism will slow down and you'll end up losing muscle mass.

There are plenty of bad side-effects of not eating. Some of the primary ones are as follows:

1. Lack of nutrients to keep your body healthy and functioning (including keeping your mind sharp and memory clear)

2. Lack of energy to complete daily tasks

3. A lack of eating will cause your body to go into "survival mode" and it will slow down your metabolism a lot, so that when you do eat, your body will store those calories (energy) as fat

Not eating will make you lose weight, but it also depletes nutrient stores. Your body needs a continual supply of nutrients in order to stay healthy. Not eating causes starvation and can cause organ damage.

Simply put, not eating will result in weight loss. It's probably a good idea to understand why, and if it's really something you want to try.

When you stop eating, your body will first react by telling your brain you really need food. In other words, you will feel extreme hunger.

After awhile, that hunger will dampen, and your body will see whats happening as starvation. At this point, your metabolism will slow down.

You body will burn off fat deposits and muscle tissue as energy. That is where the weight loss happens.

This obviously is not a healthy way to lose weight. You will become weak and tired. You will look unhealthy.

With a decreased metabolism, when you start eating again, you will quickly gain the weight back.

There are much better and safer ways to lose weight.

Your body will hold on to the fats from the meals before. If its weight your relating to. then just eat small portion sized meals just about every hour. At first it might seem as though your eating alot but your fitting in the meals and calories needed. Also water and exercise is the main key. Hope you find this helpful !
