We need zoos for different types of creatures to look at and to study them, zoos are also used for humans entertain ment (as some people say) Zoos are normal on the out skirts of places too, and zoos and safari parks are different too, because safari parks are for wild animals and zoos are for hand reared animals. Thanks for reading!! So the public can see, and learn about the animals that are usually in the wild.

Zoo breeding programs are also vital to the conservation of a lot of critically endangered species.

to protect endangered animals

It is a high tourist spots for zoo education. This zoo gives people, who would otherwise not get the chance to see different and exotic animals up close. The zoo helps with a maintain distance to see animals that you wouldn't normally get to.

So you can see animals, not domestic species, but animals which the average person might not otherwise have the chance to see, except in pictures or movies. Also that you can see, and interact with domestic animals, usually from within your local area, that many people never see because they are not real outdoors people.

Officially most Zoos tend to argue that they exist today to carry out conservation work on endangered animals, while providing educational opportunities for people to see animals of all sorts live, and also while providing a safe environment (for the humans). In reality however, in my personal opinion, the existence of zoos today is an anachronism. Their work does not justify keeping those animals that are unrelated to research or alleged conservation. Education does not require animals be confined for life, since modern mass media and technology bring documentaries to the home through TV, and free-to-view over the internet. Animals are sentient, self-aware, and can be observed caring for their families on a comparable basis as human beings, and they need to be free just as we need to be free. If we ever were to met extra-terrestrials and they turn-out to be bad, they may consider themselves much more intelligent than us, and look upon us like we currently consider animals. As a consequence they may treat us according to how they have observed us treating animals - could we morally complain! Polar bears have been observed in zoos rocking their heads back and forth, mentally-ill, through lack of any proper natural life and environment. Zoos use the term "enclosure", while prisons term their equivalent areas "cells". Zoo "enclosures" are no more than cells. Zoos are essentially prisons constructed primarily for profit and entertainment. Please consider that each animal that you see remains confined for life, so as to facilitate your average view of each "exhibit" of about 2.5 minutes. Civilized society should do away with zoos without further delay.

The missions of some zoos are to make sure many species are safe and will never be on the endangered species list.
