i am not sure about this answer, but nuclear energy can destroy a lot of things very quikly so it might be used for destroying things.
It also helps with making electricity with nuclear fission.

The advantages to using nuclear power : * One plant can produce a large amount of energy without a constant supply of fuel * With no need for fuel, plants are independent of fuel costs or supply problems * Nuclear power contributes less to acid rain, and impacts the environment less because no carbon dioxide is released. * The basis for nuclear power has already been developed (and continues to be refined) - it is ready to use. * The waste, while difficult to handle and store, is relatively compact, and can be recycled to some extent. There are disadvantages to nuclear power : * The complex design takes longer to build and is more expensive (although not compared to the cost per energy unit produced) * Closing down a plant costs more than closing conventional plants * The hazardous waste is dangerous if it escapes into the environment. The same applies to any release of contamination through accident or design flaws. * The waste and by-products represent a threat to world safety if obtained by terrorists
Much more efficient compared to power plants powered by fossil fuels. It can produce so much more energy.
nuclear power would reduce our dependance of fossil fuels and stop global warming and our deaths
They don't create atmospheric emissions like fossil fuels do. The supply of uranium is reasonably safe as a lot comes from Australia. It is useful to have different sources of fuel.
It is good for the environment, it just depends on how you dispose of the waste.
It does not produce CO2 and hence does not contribute to Global Warming
Nuclear energy is a lot more efficient and is much cleaner than other power sources like coal. But there are a lot of other options that are cleaner than nuclear energy, like wind turbines and dams.
Nuclear power plants produce electricity by using nuclear energy
Nuclear fission refers to the splitting of an atomic nucleus. It occurs naturally and can be induced in order to release energy. Nuclear fission provides the energy released by nuclear weapons as well as the energy used to produce energy at nuclear power plants.
Nuclear energy is generated in nuclear power plants, of which there are many.
The USA uses the most nuclear energy. There is the highest number of Nuclear Power Plants in the world. The reason is simple: USA needs energy and the easiest way to get it is building nuclear power plants.
Nuclear fission
They use nuclear energy to produce power for the grid.
Nucler plants create nuclear energy by separaiting atoms
No, nuclear power plants get their energy from fissionof the heavy element uranium, the sun gets its energy from fusion of the light element hydrogen.

There are no nuclear energy plants in Australia.
Because nothing to safely hold the process in has been developed yet.
Clean, cheap energy that will never run out produced in a relatively small power plant. It's a no-brainer.
Nuclear bombs, nuclear power plants, the sun.
Nuclear plants
Plants built today will have a lifetime of 60 years. Is that "long-run" in your terms?
