Pros: Pine wood is very abundant and therefore cheap to buy. It's very easy to cut, too.

Cons: It's unfortunately vulnerable to weather, warping, and/or discoloration so I wouldn't recommend your project to be outdoors where rain, snow, etc. can get to it.
