To tell you the truth, sit-ups. To get the full effect, try inverted sit-ups, that means lay flat on your back, put your legs on a cahir, the couch, or steps, and do a sit-up. This puts more attentioin to the ab area, just be carefull not to strain your neck. And for the side of your abs, do bicycle push=ups. That means raise your right arm to meet your left leg, rest, then left arm to right leg. Start slow at first to get your rythem, then proceed as you see fit. Another thing is grab a broom witha towel wrpaed around it, rest the wrped towel part on the back of your neck, stand up, grab the ends of the broom, or large stick, and twist with your feet not moving. This adds attention to your side abs.

this is the best solution I've seen. I've tried all kind of stuff and the trick is two fold: 1. you want to burn belly fat so you can actually see the muscles (which you can do pretty easily if you know how, but will take forever if you don't). 2. is building the muscles so they look good :) . I've always had a hard time with a belly fat, even when i was in great shape. the reason is i wasn't doing exercise to specifically get rid of belly fat and isolate my abs. i used this program and it was exactly what i needed.

Crunches, bridges with leg lifts and balancing ab twists are good exercises that strengthen abs. If you have an exercise ball, incorporate this into your exercise as well by doing ball rollouts.

A good abdominal exercise is called the Captains Chair Exercise. This exercise requires gym equipment called a vertical knee raise machine. You start with your legs dangling and slowly lift your knees upwards toward your chest.

My favorite lower abs exercise is the reverse crunch. This will require you to get on your back, and make your back as flat as possible. Then simple and slowly pull your knees to your chest without pulling your back off the ground just like a sit up but instead of your head going up its your legs.
