I have a Roady XT. I cut a circular black of wood that looks about the size of half a soda can. I screwed the mount into that and I keep it in a cupholder. I can easily move it from car to car that way. To run the antenna, I ran it through the back seat (which opens) into the trunk and then onto the trunk lid. vbd

If your '97 is anything like a '96,remove the radio and the compartment under it.Remove that compartment and install the CD.Then install the whole unit. The CD should plug right into the rear of the radio. This link will show you all installation and pictures http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Toyota/PDF/869037.pdf

I posted a link with the instructions in it. Hope this helps!

The battery has been disconnected. You will have to reenter the radio security code to reenable it.

To install a manual antenna on a 1996 Toyota Camry, a hole will have to be drilled into a fender somewhere near a side mirror, if there isn't already one there. The hole should be smaller than the nut that will hold the antenna on. Thread the antenna wire in and connect to the back of the radio, then tighten down the nut to hold the antenna in place.

The panel around the radio just pulls off. You can get to the bolts now

Disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes.

HA its funny u should ask...there isn't one...i own a 2005 Camry and the amp is built into the head of the stereo aka the Radio itself

You can replace the radio, on your 1996 Toyota, I removing the radio front cover. Remove the retaining screws. Unplug the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new radio.

Nope, you will need you buy a Toy-Aux converter.

Since the wires in a Toyota are all different colors, all you have to do is go to a car radio store and ask for a car stereo Toyota wiring harness. It will come with intructions but basically all you have to do is plug that thing into the cars factory harness and hook the stereo up. It worked for my Camry 1990

Hi, Try the last 3 digits of your chassis number

It is necessary to disconnect the battery to safely install a starter. When the battery is disconnected the radio loses its presets due to no power going to it.

i have the same issue. the radio is bad and is shorting out. it is running my battery down every 3 days.

Not positive.but look behind the change compartment on the left side of dashboard. This opens and snaps out....
