Anti inflammatory can not be taken for very long and will become very toxic if taken for too long. Ibuprofen can be used although it is not incredibly effective - i take it if i get a particularly large and painful cyst. Cortisone can be injected into large spots by dermatologists. You can get hydro-cortisone creams - although these should not be used regularly and can cause severe burning, scarring and rosacea if overused. Lastly the steroid: prednisone is sometimes prescribed for very severe acne and from those suffering the initial breakout from accutane.
