It could be mould. If you don't turn on (or you don't have) a fan in the bathroom to remove steam, condensation can be left on the walls and black mould can grow where it is wet.

Any colour you want! Why not paint it brown so it blend in with your garden, or paint in red with black spots to make it more ladybug-like.

You can use interior Latex pearl paint on your bathroom wall. Pearl paint adds a special finish to the wall.
take paint brush, dip in red paint, brush over white spots ;)
