What are the causes of expansion and contraction of water in soil formation?

Water does not contract and expand, except when it frezes and thaws.

Expansion and contraction

When the temperature of ice cold water is increased slightly does it undergo a net expansion or net contraction?

net contraction

Why does temperature weather rocks?

Expansion & contraction. But that's tiny compared to the expansion of water into ice (which is also a function of temperature).

When the temperature of ice cold water is increased slightly dpoes it undergo a net expansion or net contraction?

Contraction for a few degrees Celsius.

Why the process of boiling water is noisey?

At the minute site of the formation of a bubble of boiling, we have some water turning instantaneously to steam. This has a much larger volume than water, and expands VERY rapidly. In this expansion, it forces some water away to make space for the bubble, and it is these forces of expansion, and the reaction to them, that causes the noise.

Could expansion or contraction cause problems?

Yes, expansion or contraction of materials can cause problems in structures, particularly if they are not accommodated for in the design. If expansion or contraction occurs unevenly or is not properly controlled, it can lead to issues such as warping, cracking, or failure of the structure. Proper planning and use of materials that can accommodate thermal expansion and contraction is important to avoid these problems.

What of the substance sucrose or water causes the formation of pollen tube?

On the basis of hydrogen bond explain the anomalous behaviour of water when it freezes?

Water molecules form a hexagonal lattice when freezing due to the hydrogen bonds between them. As temperature decreases, water expands because of the open structure created by the hydrogen bonds. While most substances contract when freezing, the expansion of water is due to the arrangement of hydrogen bonds that push water molecules further apart, causing ice to be less dense than liquid water.

What causes pressure in a radiator?

Expansion of the water inside due to heat causes the system to be pressurised.
