I am British. I am patriotic. I think that the history of my country in this world is, though not without fault, beyond the sum of its parts, particularly the Scots in terms of inventions & academic prowess. I think we, the British, stand up for fair play & decency. I think that Cricket & Christianity that we spread to the various parts of the world (although we were Empire building at the time) are two of the better things which humanity has in its favour. I do not think, as a generalisation, we, the British, look down on others: indeed we have used the talents of many nationalities in our historical adventures, again I reiterate not always in the best interests of all. But I do not see that we have, as Empires come & go, been a terrible regime. We have, in the past, played our part to the full in this world, & I accept that is now, quite rightly, in the past. I also expect that some, perhaps many, of you will not agree with me. But I can only re state my belief in generality that we, my fellow countrymen & women, are a decent & reasonable lot & I commend this answer sincerely to the pages of WikiAnswers. We will now all stand & sing : 'Land of hope & glory............'
