This is MY opinion. There is a LOT of research going on about the effects of Splenda. Splenda makes people want more sugar. Don't you believe that the real thing is better than the fake? Instead of using splenda .. just use regular sugar. If you don't want calories then just eat healthy and exercise. ( eat protein, vegetables, fruit, etc ) Until there is a clear answer from research ... I believe splenda should be a NO for children. Kids don't need to worry about there weight. But if they ARE over-weight then as a parent it is your responsibility to feed them good foods and have fun while staying healthy.
* Again, this is MY opinion.
One would use the product Splenda for sweetening one's tea or coffee without having the negative side effects of normal sugar. Splenda is a sweetener without calories.

Splenda is the trade name for sucralose, a synthetic compound. Splenda is basically sugar modified by adding chlorine atoms. While chlorine is added to many products, it does not necessarily render the product dangerous yet ingesting chlorine is not advised in large amounts. The results of the tests done by McNeil Nutritionals revealed that test rodents suffered from dangerous side effects such as shrunken thymus glands, and enlarged livers and kidneys. No long term studies were performed before Splenda was approved by the FDA.
