There are two ingredients require to make 'mother' vinegar. Obtain some good wine yeast, mix it with wine and let it ferment. Keep this liquid by occasionally adding wine. This vinegar can be mixed with other wine to form vinegar.
There is not an adjustment on a starter except the engagement to the flywheel. That is done with the shims supplied.
Tapping the starter is an old fix and usually doesn't work any more. It was done to free up a stuck starter drive.
Disconnect battery. Starter is under car, on engine, by radiator. Unbolt/remove the two wires that are bolted to starter. Unbolt the two bolts securing starter and your done.
The Starter on a 1995 Mustang THe starter is located at the bottom of the engine near just off the flywheel. Disconnect the battery, then the wires going to the starter, unbolt the old starter, bolt in the new starter, attach the wires, connect the battery and you're done.

If the vinegar is a very minor ingredient there shouldn't be a problem. Rice vinegar has a flavor and aroma note of its own, so if it is a primary flavoring you should not substitute. Combining three parts white vinegar with one part dry sherry could be done in a pinch.
You start by getting under the car, it is positioned in about the middle of the bottom of the motor. Once you identify the starter, there are two bolts holding the starter on, one near the bottom and one near the top. You simple take the bolts out, pull down the old starter, but the new starter in and but the bolts back in and your done! I just changed mine last month, and I had never done anything to a car before. It was pretty easy.
