Community involvement is important because it makes your beliefs and opinions known to the community. It also helps people in the community by identifying needs and putting people in positions to provide for said needs.

Of course before doing anything, they have to motivate first and make the students aware about their community. The name was changed simply as Parents Teachers Association to avoid confusion. The former has broader connotation that the term "community" has so encroached into the academe. It therefore necessitated to go back to the basic as parents and teachers involvement alone. One reason of course of this change is the politicizing of people representing the community sector, even going beyond personal concern over the association. Some are taking undue advantage of their positions to influence the running of school matters, to the detriment of the very people in the association.
