In no particular order, here are key tenents of the treaty:
- No nuclear activity
- no military activity
- Acknowledgement of territorial claims, including those that overlap, while holding them all in abeyance
- Prohibition of any future territorial claims
- Protection of all land and ice south of 60 degrees S and preservation of it -- including all water (in later updates to the treaty)-- for the scientific study of the health of planet earth
- Antarctica is a land dedicated to peace
- All scientific data will be shared among signatory nation states
- Countries will monitor themselves and each other according to the agreements made under the treaty, to encourage conformation of the agreements
