You can measure it in total GDP or in GDP per person. In total GDP a big country normally has more money than a small country, which is one way of being rich - it gives global power.
But a smaller country may have more money per person, which is another way of being rich.

In total GDP:

• USA
  
• China
• Japan
• India
• Germany

In GDP per person:

• Quatar
• Luxemburg
• Norway
• Singapore
• Brunei

There are different ways of calculating these numbers, so the list is slightly different depending on who you ask.
This list is from the International Money Fund. If you use the numbers from the World Bank or CIA World Factbook instead, the top 5 in GDP per person would include USA and Ireland (World Bank) or Lichtenstein and Kuwait (CIA).
