i think he built it near towns and Villages so they were in good protection and near major routes so the armys could go places easily.
william needed to keep control so he made motte and bailey castles these were not good enough against invasion
each castle looked different , but the first castle was a very important one i'm very sorry but all i know is that it would be made out of stone, have lots of curtains and expensive cloth fro the beds - and very very unhygenic thank you! It's "The Tower of London"
Concentric Castle are big in size. They not easy to attack by other empires who want to take you over. Concentric Castle were also good because they were made out of stone. Stone is flameproof and doesn't rot like Motte and Bailey castles.
He did not do that. The Normans moved some diocesan sees from small places to major cities, from example:Dorchester-on-Thames to LincolnNorth Elmham to Thetford, then NorwichSelsey to Chichester
Stone Keep castles (Stone castles) are quite a few centuries old. They were built in the 11th century by King William I (William the conqueror) not long after he took over Britain after the battle of hastings. Stone castles however, weren't the first castles William built in Britain. He first built Motte and Bailey castles. The reasons for this were that they were cheap and easy to build as they were made out of wood. He decided to build Stone castles to replace many of the Motte and Bailey castles for many reasons including these: * Stone castles don't burn * Stone castles don't rot within a few years but will carry on standing for centuries to come * Stone castles were heavier, making them much stronger

because they were built in the middle ages and most of them are in good conditions
Motte and Bailey castles were not as good as other castles as they were weak. They were made of wood which could be easily battered and set alight. William the Conqueror built them because the could be produced quicker than other castles. He did this to assert his authority over England without taking too much time. They were later replaced by stone ones.

Oxford Castle was built 1071 by Robert D'Oilly for William the Conqueror. Castles were built up and down the country immediately after the Conquest in order to establish control over the native populations. Oxford Castle was built over the west end of the town destroying a good part of it and would have been quite simply the largest and most dominating structure in the town. Castles at that time were a military stronghold with a tower on a mound and massive earthworks called baileys, nothing like later medieval castle which were vast

Deal Castle is one of a number of castles built on the orders of Henry 8th of England and is located in the town of Deal in the county of Kent England. It over looks the English Channel. Two other Tudor castles were located in Deal, Sandown to the north is now just a pile of stones and Walmer to the south which is in good repair and open to the public and is the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. Both Deal and Walmer Castles are maintained by English Heritage.

William needed to build castles because as invading army he wasn't very popular with the locals and came under attack often
the normans built castles to show authority and power over England and for good defence and there are like 7 different types
