Classification is the process of grouping organisms based on their similarities and taxonomy is the scientific study of how living things are named and classified.

Scientists classify items in the natural world by using a Dichotomous Key. The Dichotomous Key is a tool that is used to determine the identity of something by answering a series of questions.

Most organisms are classified into eight levels. The more classification levels that two organisms share, the more characteristics they have in common.

Major Levels of Classification

2nd- Kingdom

3rd- Phylum

4th- Class

5th- Order

6th- Family
