the factory manual for 99-2005 3.4L says for lower intake manifold bolts is a 2 pass tightening sequence. working from center out in a criss cross pattern. first pass is (7nm) 62in-lb (5.166666667ft-lb). the second pass is (13nm) 115in-lb (9.583333333ft-lb). (remember inch pound is different from foot pound). upper manifold (plenum) is (25nm) 18ft-lb. the plenum bolt tabs are easily broken. so I recommend doing 2 or 3 passes. tightening 5 then 10, then 18 foot pounds. if the tabs are broken. it will create a vacuum leak and you will hear a whistle. then you will need to replace the plenum. or get it heli-arc-ed
