There is just one keyboard shortcut used to left-align a paragraph in Microsoft Word. 'Ctrl+L' are the keys used in this shortcut.

The 'F' keys: F1-F12 can be used as shortcut keys. Some keyboards may have images on these keys for shortcuts. This doesn't mean they are set up though. To set up a F key as a shortcut for a program: 1) Right-click the program and select properties. 2) Select the Shortcut tab. 3) Click inside the shortcut key box. 4) Press the key on the keyboard you want to use as the shortcut. 5) It Should appear. 6) Click Apply or OK. This only works for Windows 7. Don't know about XP etc.

If a program uses the F1-F12 keys as shortcuts and if you click them and it changes the sound or something, hold FN and it will act as a shortcut

If I understand the question correctly, you are describing the malfunction of two specific keys on your keyboard. If this is the case, you probably need to replace the keyboard. The two keys work 100% fine in other shortcuts and in single use. its just this one shortcut.
