There are very many lessons; here are a few:
1) God intervenes in the affairs of this world. See Exodus 13:20-22, Deuteronomy 8:2-5, and 8:14-16.
2) No Israelite who was clean of sin died in the wilderness. It wasn't the hardships of the wilderness that brought about death - or even old age; only sin caused deaths among them. See Numbers ch.14, and Deuteronomy 4:3-4.
3) Trying to second-guess God will not bring the desired culmination (see Numbers 14:39-45, in the context of Numbers ch.13-14).
God was faithful to them and supplied their needs.
who were the people wandering in the wilderness
The book of exodus tells us about the wandering for 40 years.
who were the people wandering in the wilderness
It is estimated that approximately 2 million Israelites died in the wilderness during the 40 years of wandering before reaching the Promised Land.
It was the forty-year period (Numbers ch.14) that the Israelites spent in the wilderness before entering Canaan.
They had to spend 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.
According to traditional chronology, the Israelites were in the wilderness from the 15th of Nisan in 1312 BCE, until the 10th of Nisan, 1272 BCE. Nisan is roughly the same time as April. However (and more precisely), their journeys didn't take on the melancholy of wandering until after the incident of the Spies (Numbers ch.13-14), which was in the summer of 1311 BCE.And, though they were still journeying, the aspect of melancholy (seemingly aimless wandering) ended one year before they entered the Holy Land.
Yes it was only God that saved the Israelites in the forty years of wandering.
The number of israelites killed in the wilderness were many. as the bible says the entire generation of people who made the golden calf walked and died in the wilderness.
Moses.
Jesus fasted in the desert for 40 days.Answer:Jesus' successful resistance of temptation in the desert after 40 days of fasting is a direct typological contrast with the disobedience of the Israelites that resulted in their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. In remaining faithful to His Father, Jesus did what Israel was unable to do.
