ANZUS stands for the Australia - New Zealand - United States Security Treaty which was signed in September 1951 and came into effect the following April.
Australia was worried about an attack from Japan and they saw that England could not defend them so by signing the Anzus they had America's protection during that time and after the war.
The ANZUS(Australian, New Zealand, United States) treaty was signed in the year 1951. It was signed to give these three countries a sense of security and it gave them war partners. They had to help each other if any of the three came to harm.
When it signed the Anzus Treaty with Us and NZ as a guarantee of mutual protection.
Part of SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization) & ANZUS (Australia New Zealand United States treaty).
The ANZUS treaty has provided security for both America and New Zealand in the Pacific. It has also strengthened the bonds with the other nations allowing for links (e.g. trade and aid links) to be established. As a result of ANZUS, Australia and America have worked together for future programs such as the war in Iraq. America has complimented Australia in saying it has gained a strong and persistent ally.
