  1. Coordinate National Defense - Protect people against the threat of attack by other nations or from internal threats such as terrorism
  2. Protect Human Rights - Through the government, laws are created and enforced that preserve order and individual rights. Murder, for example, is against the law essentially everywhere because it violates the victim's right to life.
  3. Provide Public Goods - Those services which are beneficial to the whole of the nation but that are difficult or inefficient to privatize, such as transportation infrastructure or fire departments.
  4. Pursue National Interests - The government represents the will of the people and thus acts for the nation in international diplomacy and trade.

What we the American people have been conditioned to believe are the "main goals" of our aggressive foreign policy, are in fact being diminished here and abroad as a direct RESULT of our foreign policy (freedom, democracy, human rights protection). Since WWII, our foreign policy has been about "converting raw material into war material" supporting the "war effort", as we've built up a huge extremist regime and war economy rather than a peaceful economy, an over $900 billion empire at expense of our nations peace, freedom, economy and well being as a whole. Today, USA ranks #88 in Global peace due to its spending in that direction and perpetual war cycle. we are self destructing, while cutting budgets across our school districts and other more beneficial areas to REALLY propel our nation further. Our media is owned by war profiteers, so it is purposely twisted to make us believe in all those "threats" out there, false flag panic attacks. In reality the main goals of US foreign policy have been built around not meeting our energy "demands" to fuel our too fast growth of technology much in wrong direction, so we attack oil rich land, also money that goes into military contracts, arms. We need to turn our investments to clean energy and stop trying to be the world dominating empire, think critically and ahead of how to get OUT of this self-destructive war mode. Our era of hegemony is over if we know what is best for us. It is turning USA into a military Dictatorship and further away from any civilian led democracy by the day.

Here are a couple of good articles about U.S. Foreign Policy, the first I wrote:

And this one which spells out 7 truths about our nations self-destructive foreign policy, which NEEDS to be brought to attention of our next generation as critical thinkers going ahead.
