I learnt about 5 perception errors in my Organizational Behaviour class:
Halo effect: which is when our general impression of a person is based on like one prominent characteristic, which dominates our perception of other characteristics of that person
> For example, a person is sometimes late so the manager forms a negative impression of the person and from then on sees everything the employee does negatively.
Primacy effect: our opinion of people is based on the first information we form about them
> we evaluate the person based on our first impression of them, so if we had a good first impression you wuold view that person in a favourable light
Recency effect: when the most recent information dominates our perception of others
> when a manager evaluates an employee's performance, the most recent performance dominates so if the last thing the employee did was sign a big contract with a supplier than the manger will have a very positive impression of the employee
False consensus effect: where we overstate the extent to which others have beliefs and characteristics similar to our own
> when we want to quit our job we think that a lot of other people are also thinking about quitting their job, like we think that "everyone does it or thinks so"

The most common pay dates are the 15th and End of Month. The next most common is the 1st and 15th. While the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month seems to be the next most common. There are many other combinations but these seem to cover a very high percentage that we see in our business.
Quickbooks and Peachtree are probably the most common.
The most common accounting standards are the ones that one can find in the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), those are a group of accounting standards very common and widely accepted.
Perceptual defense is when an individual simply refuses to see or accept an event as it happens. This concept can be defined as a coping mechanism to not deal with something negative. An example would be when someone dies and a family member can not accept it. It can be reduced by accepting what is happening.

A popular organization is formed by bringing people with common interests together. The interests need to be something that affects most of the people in the area and this will cause the organization to have many followers.
A perceptual positioning map is a way to show how a market perceives a product against competing products. There are different characteristics that attribute to a map but marketers tend to try to focus on two major functions and qualities of a product to compare against a competitors. Perceptual maps can have any number of dimensions but the most common is two dimensions. These maps are usually presented in a visual format with bars or graphs. Some perceptual maps use different size circles to indicate the sales volume or market share of the various competing products.
