The best advice i can give you is that, although you must have heard this a 1000 times, NEVER GO ON A DIET. The very nature of Diets is that it is a TEMPORARY strategy to lose weight, ie. it cannot be maintained for the rest of your life. You will without any doubt come of the diet at some point and the weight will come back on.

Why is that you ask. Every article always say that the weight will come back on but don't really explain it well. Im going to tell you why.

Remember this word....ADAPTION. Picture this, its bedtime and your about to get into bed. you turn the light off and what happens? you can see anything, the room is pitch black. now...after a few mintutes what happens? you begin to see , your room whats around the room, your room becomes visable now in the dark. What just happened? You eyes ADAPTED to the environment.

Now, remember this....YOUR WHOLE BODY, EVERY FUNCTION REACTS THE SAME WAY WHEN THERES A CHANGE IN THE ENVIRONMENT....IT ADAPTS.

Now what happens when you go on a diet :

  1. Lets say your current daily calorie intake is 2500. This means your body and all its functions are using and maintaining there functions with 2500 calories per day. ie. you wont gain weight or lose weight, you just hover around your current weight.
  2. Now you decide you want to lose weight so you cut your calories by 500 calories per day by reducing your food intake and adding some exercise about 3 times per week.
  3. As soon as you do this your body has sensed that there is 500 calories less coming in so to compensate for the loss it begins to use stored bodyfat to make up the calorie deficit, hense you begin to lose weight. "GREAT" you say.
  4. Now heres the important part.....while your body is using its bodyfat for extra fuel, without you knowing...it is finding a way to ADAPT all its functions to now survive on 200 calories per day.
  5. Why does it do this you ask?....you see, your body doesnt know your desire to lose weight, get a six pack, tone up your thights etc. All is senses is a drop in energy intake, which tells it that it is starving and that a shortage of food is coming, therefore you must survive this famine and the only way it does this is by STORING energy as BODYFAT!...BAD NEWS!!.
  6. To you the weight is coming off but your body is secretly waiting for any type of storage food to come in such as fat and sugars.
  7. Now...ask yourself...how many times have you gone on a diet and for the first few weeks the weight is coming off...then....its starts to slow down and eventually no matter how much calories you cut or how much exercise you do the weight wont come off?
  8. THATS BECAUSE YOUR BODY HAS NOW ADAPTED TO THE DROP IN CALORIES AND CAN NOW SURVIVE ON 2000 CALORIES, therefore it can now maintain itself.
  9. Here lies the danger!!!......the diet that your on has no doubt been hard and difficult to stick with and no doubt you've been having mad cravings for sugary and fatty foods, and you know deep down your about to come off the diet.
  10. Recall...before the diet your body was surviving on 2500 calories and had now adapted to survive on 2000 calories because of your new diet. Your about to come off your diet and go back on 2500 calories or more because you need more food and are so hungry.
  11. the extra 500 calories you are about to take in will now be stored as bodyfat because your body now has an extra 500 calories it doesnt need to surive on, because remember your diet has caused your body to survive on 2000 calories, even tho you have returned to your normal food intake...that which was not causing to gain or lose weight has now caused you to gain weight so your diet has inevitably made your gain weight!

So now you know what happens when you diet, why the weight lose slows doen, and why you will ALWAYS gain the weight back and more!

The answer to this problem is 3 stratigies i guarantee, that if you follow them, the weight WILL consistantly come off, you will never gain it back and you wont crave more food!
